Acute respiratory failure (ARF) is the inability of the respiratory system to maintain oxygenation, ventilation, or both. Acute respiratory infections are one of the most significant public health complications for infants and is considered one of the top five causes of infant death. In the Babahoyo canton, acute respiratory failure, mostly caused by climate variation, affects many children and is therefore considered a major health problem. This research work is justified in order to show the incidence of demographic, social and nutritional risk factors in a nine year old pediatric patient; and to know the effectiveness of physiotherapy techniques as a means of treatment of acute respiratory failure in this patient. As a result, it is demonstrated that the patient evolved favorably to the therapeutic treatment (non-invasive mechanical ventilation) and pharmacological treatment applied under the indications of the treating physician and according to the requirements of his age, these actions were applied as mechanisms to combat the acute respiratory insufficiency with which he entered the hospital center. Therefore, based on the clinical case treated in this case study, it can be concluded that the method of noninvasive mechanical ventilation, this method in addition to oxygen therapy and pharmacological treatment appropriate to the requirements of the patient was the method that proved to be thees_ES
