Pneumonia is a disease that according to the web portal (American Lung Association, 2020) affirms that there are more than 30 different causes for its infection, among these causes is the appearance of microorganisms such as germs, bacteria, viruses, fungi and sometimes it is acquired within the hospital environment. This infectious disease can affect one of the lungs or both at the same time, pneumonia causes an inflammation in the air sacs, these usually fill with fluid, as well as sometimes it can be made of purulent material (what we know commonly as pus), so it is common to have symptoms of fever, a cough with phlegm, dyspnea (difficulty breathing), spasms in the body and chills. Many people in optimal health can recover from pneumonia, but it can also become latently fatal in them. In older adults, neonates, young children, adults who suffer from health problems or have a weak immune system, this disease can present with greater lethality. In addition, it is specified that the correct and adequate application of precise and timely procedures guarantees to a great extent that the progress and evolution of the disease does not trigger more serious consequences in the body and thus avoid the practice of bronchoaspiration in patients who are hospitalized. It should be noted that carrying out an adequate follow-up and the appropriate administration of antibiotic treatment in conjunction with the work carried out by the respiratory therapist is carried out in order to protect or safeguard the patient's life in the face of circumstances that may compromise his life.es_ES
