dc.description | Amebiasis, entamoebosis, or amebiasis is a parasitic disease caused by Entamoeba histolytica and Entamoeba dispar that generally lodges in the large intestine. It can invade the intestinal mucosa and cause ulcerations and spread to other organs. The ascending colon is the most affected part of the large intestine. Entamoeba histolytica frequently acts as a diner, ninety percent of cases are asymptomatic. In other cases, amebiasis is manifested by the presence of dysentery and abdominal pain. The groups with the highest risk of developing the disease are children, the elderly, malnourished and patients receiving corticosteroid therapy. Socioeconomic factors influence the transmission of this disease. It is also called a cosmopolitan disease since its transmission measures are universal. The groups with the highest risk of developing the disease are children, the elderly, malnourished and patients receiving corticosteroid therapy. This disease predominates in poor countries and very little in developed countries. In its prevention, standardized measures were implemented to prevent the transmission of this parasite: washing food before consumption, carrying out hand washing, abstaining from oro-anal practice, which is mostly frequented by homosexuals. It is essential to boil the water well if you do not have enough money to buy bottled water, make sure that the food is well cooked, especially those that were watered with sewage. | es_ES |

| es_ES |
