dc.descriptionThe development of this research project had as a general objective to determine the efficacy of ancestral medicine in respiratory conditions in older adults of the Los Angeles parish, the survey of residents of the community showed as results that the sample was mostly formed by men (65%), which represents more than half of the total and the difference (35%) represented by the female gender, the most prevalent respiratory condition is influenza (43%) or common cold, also demonstrating the results (74%) that are in the mild stage; the majority of respondents (77%) consider that ancestral medicine has contributed to the restoration of their health; The treatments used vary in each person who consider infusions (74%), ointments (94%) and vapors (89%) as adequate procedures for the improvement of respiratory conditions. To conclude the community (97%) agrees on the use of a prescription of traditional medicine for respiratory conditions and application of respiratory physiotherapy as a preventive measure so that the elderly do not aggravate when contracting a respiratory infection and be able to maintain their traditions of use of ancestral medicine that identifies them as cultural roots and of their own ethnic identity.es_ES

dc.description.abstractEl desarrollo del presente proyecto de investigación tuvo como objetivo general determinar la eficacia de la medicina ancestral en las afecciones respiratorias a adultos mayores de la parroquia Los Ángeles, la encuesta realizada a moradores de la comunidad arrojaron como resultados que la muestra estuvo conformada en su mayoría por personas de género masculino (65%), lo cual representa más de la mitad del total y la diferencia (35%) representada por el género femenino, la afección respiratoria de mayor prevalencia es gripe (43%) o resfriado común, además demuestran los resultados (74%) que se encuentran en la etapa leve; la mayoría de los encuestados (77%) considera que la medicina ancestral ha contribuido en el restablecimiento de su salud; los tratamientos utilizados varían en cada persona quienes consideran las infusiones (74%), ungüentos (94%) y vahos (89%) como procedimientos adecuados para la mejoría de las afecciones respiratorias. Para concluir la comunidad (97%) está de acuerdo en la utilización de un recetario de medicina tradicional para afecciones respiratorias y aplicación de fisioterapia respiratoria como medida preventiva para que el adulto mayor no agrave al contraer una infección respiratoria y poder mantener sus tradiciones del uso de medicina ancestral que los identifica como raíces culturales y de identidad étnica propia de su sector.es_ES
