The research project analyzes nursing interventions aimed at preventing nosocomial infections in the general surgery area of the Hospital General IESS Babahoyo, during the period from August 2024 to February 2025. It is theoretically based on Betty Neuman's systems theory and Callista Roy's adaptation, providing a consistent conceptual framework for the analysis of how nurses can strengthen their knowledge to prevent HCAI in patients, through the implementation of biosecurity measures, supervision and early response to possible threats. Through a quantitative and descriptive approach, observational techniques and a checklist validated by three expert judges are used to collect specific data on the current practices of professional nurses. The study population includes graduates and nursing interns from the general surgery area. Relevant research precedents that highlight the importance of HCAI prevention and control in different hospital contexts are also analyzed. The research seeks to identify and improve existing practices by proposing strategies for continuous training and knowledge updating to optimize clinical outcomes and reduce the incidence of infection. The ethical aspects of the study guarantee the confidentiality of the information and the informed consent of the participants in compliance with the legal and regulatory provisions of Ecuador. The expected results will contribute significantly to the quality of care and patient safety at the Hospital General IESS Babahoyo, promoting a safe and efficient hospital environment.es_ES
