The objective of this work is to determine the relationship that exists between ametropia and the quality of life of students with special abilities at the “un-Nuevo Dawn” Babahoyo school. October 2024-2025. A descriptive, cross-sectional, prospective study was carried out with the objective of detailing the ametropias of children with special abilities. Ametropias are refractive anomalies that affect the eye's ability to correctly focus images, causing difficulties in near or distance vision. Among the main ametropias are myopia, hyperopia and astigmatism. These conditions, when not detected or corrected in time, can significantly influence the development of people, especially in children and adolescents with special abilities. In them, these visual difficulties can affect their quality of life, limiting their interaction with the world around them, their independence and their general well-being. In this research, age, sex, type of ametropia and the relationship between quality of life and ametropia were evaluated. Prevalence of ametropia was found in 30 students, of which 11 had (myopia), 13 (hyperopia) and 6 (astigmatism). Likewise, the relationship between quality of life and ametropia was found through a questionnaire; the greater the ametropia, the less the quality of life.es_ES
