| dc.description | In adolescents, the topic of visual health is of total interest due to the degrees worldwide reaching figures of more than 314 million individuals with refractive errors such as myopia, hyperopia and astigmatism, of this figure the 153 million with refractive errors are not corrected, having an impact on the social development and visual quality of the adolescent. In our country Ecuador, the lack of data on the prevalence of refractive errors makes this topic of total interest, which is why it led us to carry out our study at the Elohim Christian Church in Ventanas. The present study not only sought to identify the types of refractive errors present in adolescents, but also sought to demonstrate how these defects affect their visual quality, which can be improved with optical corrections. The study was justified by the need to address uncorrected refractive errors, and as a hypothesis it was proposed that refractive errors negatively impact visual quality. The study was crucial to initiate intervention programs that provide comprehensive development in adolescents of the Elohim Christian Church, highlighting the importance of regular check-ups as prevention of long-term visual problems. | es_ES |

| dc.description.abstract | En los adolescentes el tema de la salud visual es de total interés por los grados a nivel mundial alcanzando cifras de más de 314 millones de individuos con defectos refractivos como la miopía, hipermetropía y astigmatismo, de esta cifra los 153 millones con defectos refractivos no están corregidos, teniendo un impacto en el desarrollo social y calidad visual del adolescente. En nuestro país Ecuador la falta de datos sobre la prevalencia de los defectos de refracción hace que este tema sea de total interés, por lo que nos llevó a realizar nuestro estudio en la Iglesia Cristiana Elohim en Ventanas. El presente estudio no solo buscó identificar los tipos de defectos refractivos presentes en los adolescentes, sino que también buscó demostrar cómo afectan estos defectos a su calidad visual que pueden ser mejorados con correcciones ópticas. El estudio se justificó en la necesidad de abordar los defectos refractivos no corregidos, y como hipótesis se planteó que los defectos refractivos impactan negativamente su calidad visual. El estudio fue crucial para iniciar programas de intervención que aporten un desarrollo integral en los adolescentes de la Iglesia Cristiana Elohim, destacando la importancia de chequeos regulares como prevención de problemas visuales a largo plazo. | es_ES |
