This research analyzes the incidence of refractive errors on the visual quality of the members of the Provincial Union of Professional Drivers of Los Ríos, in the city of Babahoyo. Refractive errors, such as myopia, hyperopia, and astigmatism, are common visual impairments that affect visual quality and job performance, particularly in professions requiring precise vision, such as professional drivers. These conditions hinder reading traffic signs, perceiving distances, and identifying obstacles on the road, especially under low light conditions or during long work shifts. This study aims to determine the prevalence of these visual conditions and their impact on the visual quality of drivers. Refractive errors significantly affect the visual quality of professional drivers. These conditions reduce their ability to perceive essential details for safe driving, increasing the risk of accidents. The lack of regular visual check-ups exacerbates the problem, as many drivers work with uncorrected vision. Improving visual quality through timely diagnoses and corrections is crucial to ensure optimal performance and enhanced road safety. The results obtained will be useful in raising awareness among drivers and authorities about the need to implement prevention and correction programs for refractive errors, improving the visual quality of this professional group and contributing to better vision quality and road safety in the region.es_ES
