Adolescent idiopathic scoliosis (AIS) is a common condition of back curvature in adolescents, present in 1% to 3% of this age group. This is a condition that occurs when the spine curves sideways more than 10 degrees and tilts at the same time. This condition not only affects the daily life of an adolescent, but also reduces their self-confidence, abilities, and the tasks they can perform. Identifying risk factors and their incidence in idiopathic scoliosis in adolescents is crucial to implement prevention and treatment strategies. These factors include genetic, environmental, and lifestyle aspects, which can contribute to the development or progression of scoliosis. In this context, the present study focuses on the adolescent population attending the Los Ríos Sports Federation in Babahoyo, with the aim of identifying these risk factors and their incidence in Adolescent Idiopathic Scoliosis (AIS). The research will be carried out between October 2024 and April 2025, using a methodological approach that combines direct observation, surveys and questionnaires. Through this study, it is hoped not only to contribute to the knowledge about Idiopathic Scoliosis in the region, but also to provide valuable information that will improve the care and treatment of affected adolescents, thus promoting their well-being and quality of life.es_ES
