Since Ecuador is considered a multicultural and multiethnic country, it is normal for its population to use medicinal herbs for any ailment; however, they are also used during pregnancy, childbirth, and the postpartum period. The knowledge of these ancestral drinks is transmitted from generation to generation, since each community has its own customs and traditions. Therefore, the purpose of this research work is to determine the correlation between the intake of traditional waters during labor and the incidence of acute fetal distress in patients who attend the emergency service of the Alfredo Noboa Montenegro General Hospital, during the period from January to June 2024. Developed with a basic non-experimental methodological approach, in a transversal modality and using descriptive and documentary research techniques. In this research work, the data obtained for the study have been collected by reviewing medical records, the sample taken was 49 pregnant women with full-term pregnancy and labor who drank traditional waters during the period from January to June 2024, corresponding to 100% of the population, since when considering the minimum or finite population number, it was decided to choose the same amount for the study, the same ones that meet the inclusion and exclusion criteria.es_ES
