dc.description | The project investigates the effectiveness of misoprostol in the induction of labor in full-term pregnant women at the León Becerra Camacho Hospital. Although it is not approved in many countries for this use, it has been shown to be effective in cervical ripening and reducing cesarean sections. Objective: Determine the effectiveness of misoprostol in the maturation of the cervix and induction of labor in full-term pregnant women treated at the León Becerra Camacho General Hospital in the period September 2023 - April 2024. The study was quantitative, with an observational design of analysis and synthesis. We worked with a sample of 38 full-term pregnant women, the information was collected through the institution's survey and statistics. Results, the range of 20 to 35 years predominated with 42.1%; the gestational age was 39 weeks 48.7%, previous births of the patients between 1 and 2 births 48.7%, place of origin 57.9% is urban, the factors for induction were prolonged pregnancy 60.5 ; 31.6% early membrane rupture; 68.4% of patients had a vaginal delivery, while 31.6% required cesarean section due to failed induction. Maternal complications: postpartum hemorrhage 39.5% and birth canal injury 26.3%. Fetal complications 15.8% included meconium cases, applied dose of 50mcg 73.7%; 60.5% received between 1 and 2 doses; 68.4% achieved cervical maturity in less than 12 hours, the adverse reaction was tachysystole in 5.3%, 94.7% did not present adverse reactions after its application. Conclusion Misoprostol is a valuable tool in the practice of labor induction, however, it must be carefully monitored to achieve the best results and avoid risks to the mother and baby. | es_ES |

| es_ES |
