The Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) is responsible for the progressive deterioration of the immune system, which predisposes patients with this infection to contract opportunistic diseases, such as pneumonia. The present case study addresses the nursing care process in a 54-year-old adult patient diagnosed with HIV-associated pneumonia. For the systematic evaluation of the patient, the evaluation techniques established in the nursing care process were strictly used, which made it possible to identify the specific and priority needs of the patient. In this way, a care plan was developed using the NANDA, NIC and NOC taxonomies. Through care planning, the results obtained demonstrated an evident recovery of the patient, satisfying their altered needs through the planned activities. Thus, concluding that the focused and individualized care provided by nursing staff is crucial for improving the patient's health status, both in the physical, psychological and emotional sphere.es_ES
