Drug dependence in pregnant women is the consumption of drugs during pregnancy and can trigger a series of defects. Drugs during pregnancy are more harmful to the maternal state of health, both physical and psychological, which leads to poor prenatal control and negative consequences for the fetus and newborn. such as: miscarriage, congenital malformations, premature birth, low birth weight, learning disabilities and neonatal abstinence. The prevention of drug use, the education of the population at risk and the rehabilitation of drug-dependent women are points of vital importance to avoid the serious effects that drugs have on pregnancy. The general objective of this research was to analyze the effect of drug dependence and how it represents one of the great problems of humanity at the Guasmo Sur General Hospital. in patients who were admitted to the hospitalization area. The research method that was used for the development the technique was based on the observation and collection of data obtained in the statistical database of the Guasmo Sur General Hospital, made up of a population of 100 pregnant patients who were admitted, through inclusion criteria a total of 100 pregnant women with a diagnosis of drug dependence were obtained.
