According to the WHO, pressure ulcers are defined by ischemic necrosis of the skin as well as subcutaneous tissues due to the pressure exerted by the body on a certain part of the bone tissue and it has been described by a multifactorial etiology. Objective: To identify the risk factors that influence pressure ulcers in elderly patients with reduced mobility at the San Miguel Basic Hospital and develop effective strategies for their prevention and management. Methodology: The research design used was non-experimental, quantitative, descriptive, field and cross-sectional, since direct observation of each of the clinical histories was used for data collection, together with the Braden and Norton scales with a sample of 10 patients. Results: Among the characteristics obtained according to the information collected, several aspects and characteristics were identified such as: age range of 60 years and older of older adults (65%), male sex (45%), primary education level (55%) public workers (35.5%) and urban origin of the patients (50%) intrinsic factors, overweight (42.9%), limited sensory perception (45.9%), immobility (45.9%) extrinsic factors, very moist skin (52.1%), confined to beds or chairs (35.7%) inadequate nutrition (44.8%) present friction (66.4%) supine position (63.3%) and located in the sacrum (54.2%). Conclusion: We give as a very important conclusion that both intrinsic and extrinsic factors are the main cause for older adult patients to acquire the pathology of pressure ulcers.es_ES
