The present research work focuses on analyzing the risk factors associated with high myopia in patients treated at the Óptica Visión Center Del Cantón La Libertad during the period from June to September 2024. The methodology implemented is of a cross-sectional descriptive type. Through non-probabilistic sampling, the sample of 22 patients with high myopia was obtained. The clinical record and the survey were used. Among its main results, the most significant risk factors were identified: family history, habits of using electronic equipment and limited outdoor activity. The patients are mostly young people and young adults under 30 years of age with a high level of education and occupations that involve close visual work for long periods of time. It is concluded that this problem is driven by lifestyle habits and the excessive use of technological equipment. The most widely implemented treatment is the use of prescription lenses with a Blueblock filter that provides greater protection when using electronic equipment. It is necessary to implement studies that deepen the prevalence of ametropia in the Canton of La Libertad. It is recommended to implement preventive diagnostic and visual health care programs in the entire student population to detect new cases.es_ES
