dc.description | This study focuses on the analysis of information technologies for the preservation and access to the book collection of the Faculty of Health Sciences with the aim of safeguarding the cultural heritage of the bibliographic resources existing in the reading room of the faculty. An exploratory methodology was used that involves an exhaustive review of the technical literature related to these information technologies and the analysis of success cases in similar situations. In addition, the director of the systems area at the Technical University of Babahoyo was interviewed to obtain internal perspectives on the availability of computer resources available for the use of these new information technologies. The Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences was also interviewed to obtain data on the availability of specialized technical personnel for the work of activities related to the maintenance and preservation of the bibliographic collection and the viability of the implementation of information technologies. for the creation of a documentary system that allows online access to the collection of books and other bibliographic resources in the reading rooms of the Faculty of Health Sciences. The benefits expected from the implementation of this research process are the preservation of the physical texts of the faculty since they will be digitized to form a digital collection, users who have difficulties reaching the reading room due to a physical disability , they will have the opportunity to consult books online from the comfort of their homes through a computer with Internet access. | es_ES |

dc.description.abstract | Este estudio se centra en el análisis de las tecnologías de la información para la preservación y acceso a la colección de libros de la Facultad de Ciencias de la Salud con el objetivo de salvaguardar el patrimonio cultural de los recursos bibliográficos existentes en la sala de lectura de la facultad. Se utilizó una metodología exploratoria que involucra la revisión exhaustiva de la literatura técnica relacionada con estas tecnologías de información y el análisis de casos de éxito en situaciones similares. Además, se entrevistó al Director del área de Sistemas de la Universidad Técnica de Babahoyo para obtener una perspectiva interna sobre la disponibilidad de los recursos informáticos disponibles para el uso de estas nuevas tecnologías de la información. Se entrevistó también a la Decana de la Facultad de Ciencias de la Salud para obtener datos sobre la disponibilidad del personal técnico especializado para el trabajo de actividades relacionadas con el mantenimiento y preservación del acervo bibliográfico y la viabilidad de la implementación de las tecnologías de la información para la creación de un sistema documental que permita el acceso en línea a la colección de libros y demás recursos bibliográficos de las salas de lectura de la Facultad de Ciencias de la Salud. Los beneficios que se esperan a partir de la implementación de este proceso investigativo son la preservación de los textos físicos de la facultad ya que serán digitalizados para formar parte de una colección digital. Los usuarios que tienen dificultades para llegar a la sala de lectura por alguna discapacidad física, tendrán la oportunidad de realizar consultas de los libros en línea desde la comodidad de sus casas a través de una computadora con acceso a internet. | es_ES |
