dc.descriptionPreeclampsia is the leading cause of maternal death in developing countries and its etiology is multifactorial. Objective: Determine maternal risk factors and their relationship with the frequency of preeclampsia at the Sagrado Corazón de Jesús Hospital in Quevedo between August 2022 and September 2023. Methodology: Observational, quantitative, descriptive, retrospective and cross-sectional with a sample of 180 pregnant women and the clinical records were reviewed. Results: Among the sociodemographic factors, age group from 25 to 29 years (42.7%), secondary educational level (45.5%), rural origin (51.1%), housewife (46.2%); gynecological-obstetric factors, primiparity (40.0%) and 1 to 3 prenatal controls (31.1%); and personal factors, overweight (48.9%); Regarding the type of preeclampsia, severe preeclampsia predominated (50.0%). Conclusion: Maternal risk factors are related to the development of preeclampsia.es_ES

Objetivo: Determinar los factores de riesgo maternos y su relación con la frecuencia de preeclampsia en el Hospital Sagrado Corazón de Jesús de Quevedo entre agosto del 2022 y septiembre del 2023. Metodología: Observacional, cuantitativa, descriptiva, retrospectiva y transversal con una muestra de 180 gestantes y se realizó la revisión de los expedientes clínicos. Resultados: Entre los factores sociodemográficos, grupo etario de 25 a 29 años (42,7%), nivel educativo secundario (45,5%), procedencia rural (51,1%), ama de casa (46,2%); factores gineco-obstétricos, primiparidad (40,0%) y 1 a 3 controles prenatales (31,1%); y factores personales, sobrepeso (48,9%); con respecto al tipo de preeclampsia, predominó la preeclampsia grave (50,0%). Conclusión: Los factores de riesgo maternos se relacionan con el desarrollo de preeclampsia.es_ES
