The increase in cesarean section rates in recent decades has raised concerns, particularly due to their primary justification in obstetric emergencies, where acute fetal distress plays a crucial role. This study aimed to determine the rate of emergency cesarean section associated with acute fetal distress in pregnant women attended at the General Hospital Liborio Panchana Sotomayor in 2023. An inductive methodology with a quantitative approach, bibliographic, descriptive, and retrospective cross-sectional, was employed. The study population consisted of 405 cases of pregnant women, of which 197 met the inclusion criteria. Results highlight that abnormal fetal presentation, hypertensive disorders of pregnancy, acute fetal distress, among other conditions, are leading causes of emergency cesarean section. It is concluded that the rate of emergency cesarean section associated with acute fetal distress is 14.72%. This research sheds light on determining factors in emergency cesarean section performance, emphasizing the importance of cardiotocographic monitoring and adequate prenatal care.es_ES
