A healthy lifestyle is not only essential to prevent chronic non-communicable diseases; It is also key to preventing the deterioration of cognitive processes, such as memory and attention. Low academic performance is a global problem, because students do not reach the level of learning required according to educational quality standards; generating absenteeism, demotivation, failure of the school year, personal frustrations, fear of failure, economic losses to the state that invests resources in education and discontent in the family nucleus. Objective: Determine the relationship between eating habits and school performance in children aged 6 to 10 years at the Barreiro mixed public school in the city of Babahoyo in the period June - October 2023. Methodology: A questionnaire was carried out to evaluate eating habits and relate them to the academic performance of children, using a qualitative, quantitative, descriptive, transversal and correlational approach, where each of the variables was analyzed. Results: It was evident that those children who consumed healthy breakfasts had optimal performance, compared to those children who did not eat adequately; demonstrating that there is a significant correlation between eating habits and academic performance. dc.description.abstractUn estilo de vida saludable no solo es fundamental para prevenir enfermedades crónicas no transmisibles; también, es clave para prevenir el deterioro de los procesos cognitivos, como la memoria y la atención.
