dc.description | Amblyopia is the decrease in vision of the eye with abnormal development and usually occurs in the first years of life, it can be both unilateral and bilateral. If left uncorrected, you may develop other eye conditions. The objective of this project is to determine the influence of amblyopia on academic performance in students from 7 to 9 years of age of the Francisco Pérez Castro Educational Unit, Durán-Guayas canton, June - October 2023. The main beneficiaries of this study are, the population of 100 students legally enrolled in the school period 2023 - 2024, the sampling consisted of 20 students who underwent ophthalmoscopy with the help of Dr. Víctor Rivera, knowledgeable of clinical optometry to rule out any pathology. The information was collected through medical history, survey to parents and teachers. It was obtained as a result by assessing the visual acuity of 20 students with 100% with refractive amblyopia with a degree of severity at moderate level 75% and at mild level 25%, and with 20% emmetropic, at 80 students myopia was found 6%, hyperopia 36% and astigmatism 18%, with a minimum graduation not greater than +/- 0.25D; The influence of amblyopia impairs academic performance and this is due to the lack of knowledge on the part of parents, for its early detection and treatment for good cognitive development. | es_ES |

| es_ES |
