Bovine livestock is a fundamental pillar within the agricultural sector of Ecuador, it contributes to the dynamism of the rural peasant economy with meat and milk products, which are part of the basic basket and food security of the country. The study was carried out on the dos Potrillos cattle producing farm, located in the Montalvo canton, province of Los Ríos. The objective of this experimental work was to evaluate the use of the hormone progesterone post insemination to reduce gestational loss in Jersey cows. 20 Jersey cows, reproductive hormones, progesterone-based vaginal device, injectable progesterone and ultrasound were used. The application of exogenous P4 has numerical influence on pregnancy results between treatments. The injectable progesterone treatment (p4), 1cc (150mg) applied 14 days after artificial insemination, obtained higher percentages in relation to the control group: 40%; 30% Respectively. The results of the study allow us to conclude that the cows that were supplemented with Injectable P4, 1cc (150mg) at 14 days. They presented concentrations (ng/mL) in blood plasma at 14 (1.94) and 24 (8.14) days. The body condition of the cows, the climate and herd management can affect the pregnancy rate. The cost per pregnant cow is related to the synchronization protocol, hormone prices and technical serviceses_ES
