Gestational diabetes is an irregular pathology that manifests itself when pancreatic beta cells are insufficient to compensate for insulin resistance associated with increased production of placental hormones and increased production of maternal adiponectin in adipose tissue during pregnancy. This insulin resistance is not simply an abnormal entity, but rather a physiological adaptation that can be compensated by the hypersecretion of maternal insulin, appearing from the 20th week of gestation. The objective of this research is focused on training pregnant women about gestational diabetes and the maternal and fetal repercussions that it entails, at the Dr. León Becerra Camacho General Hospital Health House in the city of Milagro, the same one that presented 194 patients diagnosed with gestational diabetes during the year 2022. The study is descriptive and has a non-experimental design, considering that the pregnancy rate is currently relatively higher. The results of this research indicate that the risk factors that predispose to gestational diabetes were age >35 years with 64%, obesity 37%, followed by overweight patients 28%, while the lowest percentage was a history of previous pregnancies. with this condition giving 7%, which will allow the evaluation and analysis of the protocols for this disease to know in detail incident factors and the causes of both maternal and neonatal morbidity and mortality.es_ES
