| dc.description | Most patients with acute bronchitis recover after surgery in either days or weeks. A viral infection, such as a cold or the flu, often causes acute bronchitis. Sometimes acute bronchitis can be caused by a bacterial infection. Chronic bronchitis is a persistent cough that lasts for several months. In case of chronic bronchitis, the mucous membrane of the respiratory tract is constantly inflamed. This makes the mucous membrane edematous and makes it produce more mucus and which will make breathing difficult. Chronic bronchitis is often part of the disease. A condition called chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). The most common symptom of bronchitis is the production of mucus. Other symptoms include wheezing, dyspnea, chest pain, fever. To diagnose bronchitis, your doctor will do a physical exam and ask about your medical history and symptoms. Una infección viral, como un resfriado o gripe, frecuentemente causan bronquitis aguda. A veces la bronquitis aguda puede ser causada por una infección bacteriana. La bronquitis crónica es una tos persistente que dura varios meses. En caso de bronquitis crónica, la membrana mucosa del tracto respiratorio está constantemente inflamada. Éste hace edematizar a la membrana mucosa y hace producir más mucosidad y la cual va a dificultar la respiración. La bronquitis crónica suele ser parte de la enfermedad. Una condición llamada enfermedad pulmonar obstructiva crónica (EPOC). El síntoma más común de la bronquitis es la producción de mucosidad.
