The methodological approach is of a mixed quantitative-qualitative modality, with a descriptive level of cross-section or exploratory, with a theoretical and empirical method. The sample used was made up of 30 patients with a definitive diagnosis of type 2 diabetes mellitus, a questionnaire was used as a collection instrument, and the data were processed and coded through the operationalization matrix of variables, then they were analyzed and represented in figures and statistical tables. In conclusion, type 2 diabetes mellitus is a chronic disease that produces systemic damage, therefore, it is of great interest in this situation that addresses this public health problem since lifestyle modifications reduce the possibility of developing complications of type 2 diabetes mellitus.es_ES
