There is a relationship between the nutritional status of pregnant women and anemia. Taking into account that the body mass index (BMI) is an important indicator to assess the nutritional status of pregnant women, anemia during pregnancy is usually a very common nutritional disorder. Studies have shown that there is a correlation between the nutritional status of pregnant women and the appearance of anemia during pregnancy. The objective is to evaluate the nutritional status and iron deficiency anemia during pregnancy, taking into account that anemia is a common condition that can be prevented with adequate nutrition. In the present investigative work, the inductive method will be used, with this method it will be possible to recognize the variables and the objective of the study, through observation, description and analysis techniques. The incidence of iron deficiency anemia in pregnant women who are treated at the Nicolás Cotto Infante Hospital in the period from December 2022 to May 2023 is 44% of pregnant women and nutritional status according to preconception BMI is 33% with normal BMI and 30% with a BMI of overweight.es_ES
