Stress is an adaptive response to the different traumatic or stressful stimuli that people face in their daily lives, a lack of control of this emotional state becomes a threat to different areas of the individual, such as work, family or in the case of students, in their academic performance. In this case study, we seek to determine the incidence of stress on the academic performance of a 3rd year high school student from the Educational Unit 10 de Agosto. The study maintains a mixed approach, with a non-experimental design and a correlational typology. To achieve its purpose, direct observation, semi-structured interview, clinical history and psychometric battery were used as techniques; and the Zung depression and anxiety self-measurement scale, and the Holmes-RAE stress scale as the applied instruments. Based on the information captured from these data collection tools, the therapeutic approach to work with the case was defined. The results obtained indicated a relevant incidence of stress in the student's recent academic performance. Being the Covid-19 pandemic the initial stressor that, by having repercussions on the educational systems and other areas that involved the emotional well-being of the young person; generated in him the development of negative stress. Identifying the changes in the virtual modality, catastrophic thoughts about his father's health and the fear that these caused him, as the indirect stressors that influenced his school performance.es_ES
