Polyhydramnios is a relatively rare pathology in obstetrics worldwide, and it can complicate pregnancy depending on its degree of severity. This condition appears when there is an excessive amount of amniotic fluid in the pregnant woman, this being greater than 1500 to 2000 milliliters, or in turn, when there is twice the normal for gestational age. In most cases no underlying cause has been identified, but a large percentage of them have a genetic basis. Current treatment is based on drugs, amniocentesis and ultrasonographic controls. This report describes a case of mild polyhydramnios in which the etiology was not proven and it was managed expectantly. For this reason, it was decided to study and follow up this pathology at the Hospital Nicolas Cotto Infante, in a 19-year-old patient, primigravida with a pregnancy of 40.1 weeks calculated by date of last menstruation-ultrasound plus polyhydramnios. During the evolution of our patient, a correct management and follow-up of the pregnancy was carried out, through pertinent controls, ultrasounds, monitoring, surveillance and laboratory tests that allowed carrying out a timely and effective therapeutic behavior in the resolution of the present clinical case. It is worth mentioning that this document describes one of the many clinical situations faced by health professionals in commitment to pregnant women, with the aim of ensuring maternal and fetal well-being.es_ES
