dc.description | Currently, Giardiasis is known as an intestinal infection which is presented at the level of the small intestine, presenting a notorious destruction in the epithelium of people and animals. In patients with this infection, they may be asymptomatic. For the realization of this document, information was obtained from various sources such as web pages, information from books, and documents which were analyzed and summarized to topics with reference to the study of Giardia canis in puppies. To prevent the spread of this infection, which is considered a public health problem in Ecuador, adequate information must be provided to all pet owners to avoid parasitic problems. Well, half of the population has had or suffers from the condition caused mainly by being in contact with food contaminated with cysts in their infective form and thus optimizing the clinical risks that it presents both as animals and humans. On the other hand, in the veterinary field, Giardia canis is a protozoan pathogen that shows a high percentage of incidence in puppies at the national level. Well, they are the most susceptible to cope with the clinical consequences that they present due to Giardia infection. Its prevalence in puppies has a percentage of 10% at the level of dogs with optimal assistance, and 36-50% in puppies and possibly up to 100% in dogs that are in kennels. For its diagnosis, the most used technique is flotation with zinc sulfate, which allows us to identify protozoan cysts and oocysts in order to make a good diagnosis and be able to give an effective treatment according to the animal and the degree of disease. its infestation. | es_ES |

| es_ES |
