dc.description | Hydrocephalus is defined as a group of disorders that derive from impaired circulation and absorption of cerebrospinal fluid and represents, in most cases, a high risk of mortality or serious developmental sequelae, whether motor, cognitive, sensory in a newborn. The present case study is based on a premature newborn with hydrocephalus after grade IV intraventricular hemorrhage, at the Hospital de Especialidades de las Fuerzas Armadas No.1. The patient presented multiple complications since his birth, mainly at the level of the nervous and cardiorespiratory systems; so, he had surgery on several times for the placement of a ventriculoperitoneal shunt (VPS) not as a final resolution but as a diagnostic and therapeutic measure. Hospitalization lasted about 2 months, time enough to get an adequate follow-up to evaluate the effectiveness of the care provided, especially those relevant to Nursing. | es_ES |

| es_ES |
