The present study was carried out on the clinical case of a 75-year-old patient who presented lack of oxygen, desaturation, nasal dilation, asphyxia, hypotension and chest pain. The main objective of this work was to apply respiratory therapy techniques to the 75-year-old patient with acute respiratory failure. The patient's heart rate was 61 beats per minute, his respiratory rate was 11 beats per minute (there was a sound in the lung field), the temperature was 37.4 degrees, the blood pressure was 86/50 mmHg, and he had cyanosis. During the chest X-ray examination, the lung fields could be seen to expand and reduce the size of the lungs, indicating the presence of acute respiratory failure. This situation could be controlled, and a reservoir mask was placed at 15 liters of oxygen and medication was used to control the symptoms. The patient responded well to this and showed improvement. In summary, it can be said that the timely application of respiratory therapy techniques and procedures was able to avoid complications that could lead to more serious health problems in the future.es_ES
