This case study was carried out in a 71-year-old patient, who presented a decrease in her visual acuity, making the respective optometric evaluations it was observed that she presented a growth of conjunctival tissue that was invading the cornea of her right eye, and an eyelid ptosis in her left eye, the patient was referred to the ophthalmologist specialist to perform the removal of the pterygium, this was removed but left as a consequence refractive errors which had to be corrected so that the patient could perform in a good way in their daily tasks and thus be able to improve their quality of life. The objective of this research is to establish the causes that motivated the presence of these pathologies, providing data that serve as support for future research in the area of visual health. According to detailed studies within this investigation, it establishes that there are various factors that motivate the presence of pterygium, mainly ultraviolet radiation from the sun and environmental factors such as wind and dust. Ocular ptosis is also caused by different factors, including eye injuries caused by trauma.es_ES
