dc.descriptionThis research work consisted of indicate the mealybugs found in the root of the coffee tree, their management, behavior, economic damage and control. Root mealybugs are present in coffee growing in most regions of the country due to the level of damage they cause, it is considered a pest of economic importance, they attack various parts of the plant and feed on the sap, causing its general weakening. Among the main phytosanitary problems that can affect the productivity of coffee plantations, and especially in the renewal by sowing, are the scale insects of the roots of coffee trees. When favorable conditions are present, they can become a pest that affects production, both in seedlings and in established plantations. Coffee production is an engine for the Ecuadorian and world economy since it contributes foreign currency to the states, generates income for the families that grow coffee, benefits the actors of the productive chain of the same such as (merchants, transporters, exporters, micro-entrepreneurs, workers of the coffee industry). Through the studies carried out, it was concluded that it would be very useful to use a preventive control, with diagnosis and management before these encyst, likewise a special management should also be used in those places where the pest was previously presented.es_ES

dc.description.abstractEste trabajo investigativo consistió en indicar las cochinillas que se encuentran en la raíz del cafeto, su manejo, comportamiento, daño económico y control. Las cochinillas de las raíces están presentes en la caficultura de la mayoría de las regiones del país por el nivel de daño que ocasionan, es considerada como plaga de importancia económica, atacan diversas partes de la planta y se alimenta de la sabia causando su debilitamiento general. Entre los principales problemas fitosanitarios que pueden afectar la productividad de los cafetales, y especialmente en la renovación por siembra se encuentran las cochinillas de las raíces de los árboles de café. Cuando se presentan condiciones favorables pueden convertirse en una plaga que afecta la producción, tanto en almácigos como en plantaciones establecidas. La producción de café es un motor para la economía ecuatoriana y mundial ya que aporta divisas al estado genera ingresos para las familias que cultivan café, beneficia a los actores de la cadena productiva del mismo tales como (comerciantes, transportistas, exportadores, microempresarios, obreros de la industria del café). Mediante los estudios realizados se concluyó que sería de mucha utilidad emplear un control preventivo, con diagnóstico y manejo antes de que estas se enquisten, así mismo también se debe emplear un manejo especial en aquellos sitios en donde se presentó la plaga anteriormente.es_ES
