DNA is considered as the molecule that contains the genetic material can be inherited by a progeny generation. It is made up of genes that influence the characteristics of an individual. Gene editing is considered the fundamental technique to change, add or disaggregate DNA segments by modifying the qualities of an organism. Biotechnology, like traditional plant breeding, is essentially focused on creating plants that are resistant to pests and diseases, thereby increasing crop yields as well as ensuring their quality. Genetic engineering is focused on producing genotypes that express qualities of interest, through integration in the plant genome, of foreign DNA segments, which can be brought from any origin. For the development of this document, the study will consist of bibliographic research of different theoretical and scientific bases expressed by various authors (web pages, published material, e-books, encyclopedias, newspapers, theses, papers, reviews, articles and magazines) in reference to the subject of study, which will allow to substantiate the proposed objectives. The information obtained was made through the analysis, synthesis and summary technique, in order for the reader to understand the importance of genetic editing as an alternative to create resistant to pests and diseases with the aforementioned we corroborate that editing techniques Genetics are very important since a correct application incurs in the creation of plants that are resistant to pests and diseases, which with adequate agronomic management brings us better yields, quality and therefore economic income.es_ES
