dc.descriptionThe present case study is about a 65-year-old elderly person, has 3 children and currently resides in the City of Babahoyo, Los Ríos Province, with a history of Type II Diabetes Mellitus for 8 years. He complies with his pharmacological treatment but nevertheless, his diet is inadequate and added to this lack of activity. Among the paternal family pathological antecedents is Type II Diabetes Mellitus, Hypertension and Cancer. In recent weeks she has had a severe headache and periods of maintenance insomnia, as well as fatigue and work stress. The Nutritional Status Assessment reflects a Body Mass Index of 21.17 kg / m², resulting in low weight. Biochemical tests reflect hyperglycemia and dyslipidemia. We opt for a nutritional treatment focused on controlling blood glucose and lipid profile. For which a nutritional plan is carried out, taking into account the socioeconomic situation and pathological condition of the patient. The type of diet that will be prescribed will be hypohydrocarbon, divided into 5 meals a day, which is characterized by the control of carbohydrates, in addition to the intake of fruits, vegetables and fiber that will help to stabilize blood glucose and lipid levels. Along with this, the follow-up that had a period of two months, where favorable results were observed in the patient's health condition.es_ES

dc.description.abstractEl presente caso de estudio se trata de una persona de la tercera edad de 65 años, con 3 hijos y en la actualidad reside en la Ciudad de Babahoyo, Provincia de Los Ríos, con antecedente de Diabetes Mellitus Tipo II desde hace 8 años, cumple con su tratamiento farmacológico, pero sin embargo, su alimentación es inadecuada y sumado a esto la falta de actividad física. Dentro de los antecedente patológicos familiares paternos esta la Diabetes Mellitus Tipo II, Hipertensión y Cáncer. En las últimas semanas ha tenido cefalea intensa y periodos de insomnio de mantenimiento, además de cansancio y estrés laboral. La Valoración del Estado Nutricional indica bajo peso según el Índice de Masa Corporal de 21.17 kg/m², de adulto mayor. Los exámenes bioquímicos, reflejan hiperglucemia y dislipidemia. Se opta por un tratamiento nutricional enfocado en controlar la glucemia y el perfil lipídico. Para lo cual se realiza un plan nutricional, teniendo en cuenta la situación socioeconómica y condición patológica del paciente. El tipo de Dieta que se prescribirá será hipohidrocarbonada, fraccionada en 5 comidas al dia, que se caracteriza por el control de carbohidratos, además de ingesta de frutas, vegetales y fibra que ayudaran a estabilizar los niveles de glucemia y lípidos. Junto a esto el seguimiento que tuvo un periodo de tiempo de dos meses, donde se observaron resultados favorables en la condición de salud del paciente.es_ES
