| dc.description | Benign prostatic hypertrophy (BPH) is defined as an enlarged prostate that can cause difficulty at urination, causing urinary symptoms such as nicturia, incontinence, hematuria, two-stroke urination blocking bladder urine flow (Garcia, 2017). In some cases this disease can lead to infectious processes, bladder lithiasis and impaired complications of kidney function. It is important to mention that in order to identify this complication, a specific uroculture, prostate antigen or hematic biometrics examination must be performed. While drug treatment includes medications to relax the bladder or contract the prostate, and correction procedures such as prostatectomy (Garcia, 2017). The present clinical case aims to apply the Nursing Care Process in a 63-year-old male patient with a 30-day-evolving syntomatological picture, characterized by acute urinary retention. The patient requires hospitalization for definitive diagnosis of benign prostatic hypertrophy. The purpose of the application of the Nursing Care Process was possible to perform on the affected individual for the purpose of providing individualized comprehensive care, through the nursing interventions provided during his/her hospital stay, in order to achieve the complete well-being of the health state and return to his society. | es_ES |

| dc.description.abstract | La hipertrofia prostática benigna (HPB) se define como el agrandamiento de la próstata que puede provocar dificultad al miccionar, causando síntomas urinarios, como nicturia, incontinencia, hematuria, micción de dos tiempos bloqueo del flujo de orina de la vejiga (Garcia, 2017). En algunos casos esta enfermedad puede ocasionar procesos infecciosos, litiasis de vejiga y en complicaciones deterioro de la función renal. Es importante mencionar que para poder identificar esta complicación se debe de realizar un examen de urocultivo, antígeno prostático específicos o una biometría hemática. Mientras que el tratamiento farmacológico incluye medicamentos para relajar la vejiga o contraer la próstata, y procedimientos de corrección como la prostatectomía (Garcia, 2017). El presente caso clínico tiene como objetivo aplicar el Proceso de Atención de Enfermería en paciente de 63 años que presenta un cuadro sintomatológico de 30 días de evolución, caracterizado por retención urinaria aguda. El paciente requiere hospitalizacion por diagnóstico definitivo de hiperplasia prostática benigna. El propósito de la aplicación del Proceso de Atención de Enfermería fue posible realizar en el individuo afectado con el propósito de brindar un cuidado integral individualizado, mediante las intervenciones de enfermería brindadas durante su estancia hospitalaria, para poder lograr el completo bienestar del estado de salud y reincorporación a su sociedad. | es_ES |
