The current clinical case study is based on a 58-year-old male patient with acute renal failure, which is defined as the syndrome or set of alterations that denote, in a short time, the deterioration of renal function, the same that can develop in a few days or weeks. The patient presents other pathological antecedents such as type 2 diabetes mellitus and arterial hypertension, which is related to acute renal failure, since these chronic diseases cause alterations in different soft organs, especially in the kidney. The purpose of the clinical case is to develop the nursing intervention process taking into account the different pathological antecedents that the patient presents. The evaluation of functional patterns is important, which is aimed at assessing the individual, the family and the community. It is the main element that defines the role of the nurse in primary care, this being an essential mechanism in the nursing care process (PAE ) This process has been based on a series of basic elements, consisting of; assessment, diagnosis, planning, execution and evaluation, taking into account the NANDA, NOC and NIC taxonomies as the knowledge base that supports the manual. As a result, we obtain that, when applying a correct evaluation by functional patterns and care plan, which is constituted by a planned and systematized process, which implies decision-making, therefore it is concluded that the use of this method has a positive influence in the health of the patient in the improvement of clinical manifestations.es_ES
