Incidencia y control del picudo negro (Cosmopolites sordidus) en el cultivo de plátano en el Ecuador
Abstract
RESUMEN
El presente trabajo de carácter investigativo bibliográfico, se enfocó en función de las problemáticas del insecto plaga conocido como ¨picudo negro¨ (Cosmopolites sordidus) mismo que es de gran importancia económica en el manejo agronómico del cultivo plátano a nivel de nuestro país, la información recopilada nos da a conocer la incidencia y severidad de daños que ocasiona dicha plaga, debido a sus característica y hábitos alimenticios, los picudos son cucarachones de cuerpo duro (pertenecientes al orden coleóptera) que se caracterizan por presentar un pico fuerte que le sirve para alimentarse y para hacer pequeñas perforaciones en los speudotallos y cormo de las plantas que atacan, las larvas o gusanos que causan daño al consumir el tejido, provocan heridas que debilitan a la planta y son puerta de entra a microorganismos patógenos como los agentes causales del mal de Panamá y del moko, etc. Entre los métodos de control de este insecto la literatura reporta varios, tales como: control químico, biológicos, culturales, inclusive combinaciones de estos, haciendo uso de trampas para reducir las poblaciones y así minimizar los daños disminuyendo el umbral de daño económico del picudo negro y aumentar el rendimiento del cultivo de plátano.
