This research was carried out at the “Lucha Obrero” health center in the city of Babahoyo, which is dedicated to providing health services to the community in general. The main objective of the research is to determine the risk factors that are associated with the abandonment of tuberculosis treatment in patients aged 35 to 70 years, since this disease can cause the death of individuals, because it is considered as infectious and of easy contagion. The methodology used during this investigation is framed under the qualitative-quantitative approaches because statistical data and necessary characteristics of the variables under study are obtained, also the types of descriptive and field research were applied which helped to direct and describe the accurate data of the subject exposed through the application of the techniques of surveys and direct observation through the execution of investigative instruments as questionnaire of questions and an information sheet. The results of the research show that 62% of patients who are undergoing tuberculosis treatment do not complete it, due to multiple factors including economic conditions and comorbidity, they are the main causes of the increase in mortality under this disease. In conclusion, it was evidenced that tuberculosis is a deadly disease that has to be confused with the symptoms of a flu and if the treatment is not carried out it can be fatal for those who suffer from it, for this reason it is necessary to establish awareness campaigns that allow to know the risk factors that affect the prevalence and treatment of this pathology.es_ES
