dc.description | Liver cirrhosis represents the final stage of any disease. It is characterized by hepatic fibrosis, which shows the destruction of the normal architecture of the liver. Among the complications are; edema, jaundice, encephalopathy, esophageal varicose veins. The clinical case corresponds to a 40-year-old male patient with a history of alcoholism from the age of 20 diagnosed for 3 months with stage II liver cirrhosis. In the respective consultation, laboratory tests were carried out Total protein 5.4g / dl albumin 3mg / DL total bilirubin 46 mmol / l alkaline phosphatase 62 IU blood glucose 90 mg / DL total cholesterol 225mg / DL GOT / AST 60.0 U / L GPT / ALT 65 U / L GGT / 87 U / L. On the chest X-ray showed a bilateral elevation of the diaphragm, an endoscopy was also performed and revealed grade II esophageal varices without bleeding. The anthropometric data of the patient are the following current weight 58kg, size 170cm his C.M.B 24cm. It is important to know the complications and nutritional deficiencies that the patient can present throughout the pathology to be able to take preventive measures in this regard. The nutritional evaluation in the cirrhotic patient is of the utmost importance. Since in the initial phase it is possible to treat complications with excellent dietary control, timely and nutritional advice, for the patient. dc.description.abstract | La cirrosis hepática representa la etapa final de cualquier enfermedad. Se caracteriza por fibrosis hepática, que muestra la, destrucción de la arquitectura normal del hígado. Entre las complicaciones están; edema, ictericia, encefalopatía, venas varicosas esofágicas. El caso clínico corresponde a un paciente masculino de 40 años de edad con antecedente de alcoholismo desde los 20 años diagnosticado desde hace 3 meses con cirrosis hepática en estado II. En la respectiva consulta, se le realizaron pruebas de laboratorio Proteína total 5.4g / dl albúmina 3mg / DL bilirrubina total 46 mmol / l fosfatasa alcalina 62 UI glucosa en sangre 90 mg / DL colesterol total 225mg / DL GOT / AST 60.0 U / L GPT / ALT 65 U / L GGT / 87 U / L. En la radiografía de tórax mostró una elevación bilateral del diafragma también se le realizó una endoscopia y reveló várices esofágicas de grado II sin sangrado. Los datos antropométricos del paciente son los siguientes peso actual 58kg, talla 170cm su C.M.B 24cm. Es importante saber las complicaciones y deficiencias nutricionales que el paciente puede presentar a lo largo de la patología para poder tomar medidas preventivas a respecto. La evaluación nutricional en el paciente cirrótico, es de suma importancia. Dado que en la fase inicial es posible tratar las complicaciones con un excelente control dietético, oportuno y asesoramiento nutricional, para el paciente.
