Introduction: Diabetes mellitus is a disease of global importance; It has become one of the main public health problems in Ecuador, reducing people's quality of life or causing morbidity and mortality. According to the Institute of Statistics and Censuses (INEC), diabetes has become the second cause of death in Ecuador after coronary heart disease, and the number of deaths from diabetes has increased in the last 10 years, with 3,292 deaths in 2007 compared to 4,906 in 2016. Objective: Determine the relationship between fiber consumption and glycemia in adults with diabetes who attend the Enrique Ponce Luque Health Center in the Babahoyo Canton. December 2023 April 2024. Methodology: deductive, analytical, field, transversal and quantitative. Results: the sample consisted of 79 patients, of which 57% were female and 43% were male, a higher prevalence was obtained in the age group of 40 to 49 years with 60.8%. Fiber consumption was identified where it was evident that the average intake is 20.13 g/day; of which, 60.3% do not consume the values recommended by the American Diabetes Association. It was determined how fiber consumption influences glucose levels where it was observed that 60.8% have values above what is recommended (> 130 mg/dl); same average that consumes less than 20 grams of fiber per day. Conclusion: The recommended consumption of dietary fiber produces a positive impact on fasting blood glucose levels. It is recommended that patients continually attend the education programs offered by the health center, to strengthen knowledge and apply it in their daily lives.es_ES
