The research was carried out in an analytical context and its main objective is to evaluate the physiotherapy approach in patients between 65 and 75 years of age with a diagnosis of knee osteoarthritis who are treated in the physical therapy area of the Gerontological Day Center "Adults in Activity" of the Montalvo Canton. This approach arises due to the loss of independence experienced by older adults in carrying out basic activities of daily living, associated with this degenerative disease related to human aging. To this end, a bibliographic review of the medical records of patients suffering from this condition in the physical therapy department of the geriatric center was carried out. This study is observational, descriptive and field. Data collection was carried out from the medical records of patients with a pathological diagnosis, using the WOMAC questionnaire to evaluate quality of life, goniometric assessment to measure the range of motion of the knee joint, and the observation to record the physiotherapy treatment applied to each patient. In addition, open interviews were carried out with both the physical therapy health personnel of the geriatric center and the older adults themselves. The results showed the presence of 35 patients with a diagnosis of knee osteoarthritis among the 65 people surveyed. The following data revealed that the application of specific physiotherapeutic techniques has proven to be beneficial in the management of knee osteoarthritis in this population, the reduction of pain, the improvement of functionality and the increase in quality of life are positive aspects observed in those patients who followed the physiotherapy treatment program consistently.es_ES
