The present investigation attempts to verify the prevalence of bacterial otitis in patients treated at the Great Danes veterinary clinic in the city of Guayaquil. Bacterial otitis in dogs is a common condition that affects the external ear of canines and is caused by a bacterial infection in the ear canal. Symptoms include frequent head shaking, excessive ear scratching, redness, swelling, and foul-smelling discharge. Due to this, the objective was to take a sample from the otic cavity of the canines that come to the Great Danes veterinary clinic, using the swab technique, in order to determine said pathology. The study also recorded the signs that those positive cases presented. The results indicated that of the 30 earwax samples collected, there was only a prevalence of 86.66%, that is, 26 out of 30 presented bacterial otitis, 13 were positive for Staphylococcus spp, 6 for Pseudomona spp, 7 for Proteus spp., 4 of the 30 were negative. dogs that were sampled at the Great Dane veterinary clinic for this research, it is observed in table 1 that 26 canines tested positive for bacterial otitis, that is, 86.66%. Finally, it can be noted that the breed with the highest prevalence in the sampling carried out at the Great Dane clinic is the mixed breed with 50%, followed by the French poodle with 11.53%. The breed with the least are the German Shepherd, Sharpie, Pitbull, Siberian Husky and Doberman with 3.84% each.es_ES
