| dc.description | This clinical case deals with a 38-year-old male patient with high myopia and astigmatism. High myopia, characterized by a high degree of myopia, when combined with astigmatism has a strong impact on the lives of patients. The patient experienced symptoms such as nighttime headache, blurred vision, and difficulty driving at night. These symptoms were aggravated by his work, which involved long hours in front of electronic screens. Despite having recently had his lenses renewed, he noticed a loss in the clarity of his vision. After a detailed optometric evaluation that included visual acuity measurement and medical history review, a definitive diagnosis of high myopia with astigmatism was reached. The patient was recommended the prescription of new lenses with updated measurements and blueblock and UV protection. And regular controls every year to detect any change in graduation. This case highlights the importance of regular optometric exams, highlights how upgrading lenses can significantly improve the quality of life of patients with high myopia. | es_ES |

| dc.description.abstract | El presente caso clínico refiere de un paciente de sexo masculino 38 años con miopía magna y astigmatismo. La miopía magna se caracteriza por una alta graduación de miopía, cuando se combina con astigmatismo tiene un fuerte impacto en la vida de los pacientes. El paciente experimentó síntomas como cefalea nocturna, visión borrosa y dificultades para conducir por la noche. Estos síntomas se agravaron debido a su trabajo que implicaba largas horas frente a pantallas electrónicas. A pesar de haber renovado sus lentes recientemente, notó una pérdida en la claridad de su visión. Después de una evaluación optométrica detallada donde se realizó la medición de la agudeza visual y una revisión del historial médico, se obtuvo un diagnóstico definitivo de miopía magna con astigmatismo. Se recomendó al paciente la prescripción de nuevos lentes con medidas actualizadas y protección blueblock y UV. Y controles regulares anualmente para detectar cualquier cambio en la graduación. Este caso resalta la importancia de los exámenes optométricos regulares, destaca cómo la actualización de los lentes puede mejorar significativamente la calidad de vida de los pacientes con miopía magna. | es_ES |
