The study conducted at the Dr. José Daniel Rodríguez Maridueña Hospital in Guayaquil during the period June-October 2023, identified several risk factors associated with the development of pulmonary tuberculosis in patients. Among the main findings were the high prevalence in patients aged 19-40 years, the influence of male gender as a significant risk factor, the presence of smokers and regular alcohol consumers, as well as occupational exposure to dust, smoke or chemicals. In addition, close contact with persons diagnosed with tuberculosis and travel to regions with high incidence of the disease were identified as relevant risk factors. The presence of chronic diseases that weaken the immune system was also associated with an increased risk. These findings provide valuable information for the implementation of effective prevention and control strategies in the population served by the hospital.es_ES
