| dc.description | Diabetes mellitus is a metabolic disorder with extensive etiologies characterized by chronically increased blood glucose levels with alterations in the metabolism of carbohydrates, proteins, and fats caused by insulin secretion and action. In Ecuador, there has been a significant increase in mortality in the last century as a result of type II diabetes mellitus, with a total of 4,895 deaths. A nursing care process was applied to a 68-year-old male patient with a characteristic symptomatic picture of the disease through physical examination, his symptoms characterized by holocranial headache of moderate intensity, polydipsia accompanied by asthenia, polyphagia, tinnitus and dizziness, in addition, through the Marjorie Gordon model, the affected functional patterns were evidenced, which allowed the identification of the patient's health needs. To carry out the diagnoses, interventions and results, the NANDA, NIC and NOC taxonomies were applied, which allowed improving care and improving the quality of life of the patient during their hospital stay. | es_ES |

| dc.description.abstract | La diabetes mellitus es un trastorno metabólico de extensas etiologías caracterizado por el aumento de la glicemia en sangre de forma crónica con alteraciones en el metabolismo de los hidratos de carbono, proteínas y grasas causada por la secreción y acción de la insulina. En el Ecuador se observa un incremento significativo en la mortalidad en el último siglo producto de la diabetes mellitus tipo II, con un total de 4895 defunciones. Se aplicó el Proceso de Atención de Enfermería en el paciente de sexo masculino de 68 años de edad con cuadro sintomatológico característico de la enfermedad por medio del examen físico se determinó su sintomatología caracterizada por cefalea holocraneana de moderada intensidad, polidipsia acompañada de astenia, polifagia, acufenos y mareos, además por medio del modelo de Marjorie Gordon se evidencio los patrones funcionales afectados (nutricional metabólico y cognitivo perceptual) que permitieron identificar las necesidades (cefalea holocraneana de moderada intensidad, astenia, acufenos y mareos) en salud del paciente. Para la realización de los diagnósticos, (nivel de glucemia inestable y dolor agudo) intervenciones (manejo de la hiperglicemia, manejo del dolor) se obtuvieron los resultados de manera positiva mejorando la puntuación obtenida en la escala de Likert, cada etapa se efectuó a través de las taxonomías NANDA, NIC Y NOC, los cuales permitieron mejorar los cuidados y calidad de vida del paciente durante su instancia hospitalaria. | es_ES |
