| dc.description | Urinary tract infections as an obstetric risk factor are associated with high rates of maternal-fetal complications, especially among women with limited resources since the economic factors of developing countries influence the increase in public health problems. The present research work is descriptive, quantitative, and its general objective is to identify the main maternal - fetal complications in pregnant women aged 18 - 25 years with urinary tract infections, treated at the General Hospital Ecuadorian Institute of Social Security (IESS). Babahoyo, period November 2022 - April 2023. When analyzing the statistical data obtained during the development of this work, it was shown that the percentage of maternal-fetal complications related to urinary tract infections in pregnant women is 36.7%, incidence which maintains the same results in other South American countries. At the international level, the theoretical recommendations thus proposed aim to strengthen prevention and health promotion programs for women during pregnancy, initiated by the Ministry of Public Health of our country to raise awareness among pregnant women to prevent infections of urinary tract, improve lifestyles, thus reducing maternal and fetal morbidity and mortality and complications related to this pathology. | es_ES |

| dc.description.abstract | Las infecciones de vías urinarias como factor de riesgo obstétrico están asociadas con altas tasas de complicaciones materno - fetales, especialmente entre mujeres con recursos limitados ya que los factores económicos de los países en desarrollo inciden en el incremento de las problemáticas de salud pública. El presente trabajo de investigación es de tipo descriptiva experimental y tiene como objetivo general identificar las principales complicaciones materno - fetales en gestantes de 18 – 25 años con infecciones de vías urinarias, atendidas en el Hospital General Instituto Ecuatoriano de Seguridad Social (IESS) Babahoyo, periodo noviembre 2022 – abril 2023. Al analizar los datos estadísticos obtenidos durante el desarrollo de este trabajo se demostró que el porcentaje de las complicaciones materno – fetales relacionadas con las infecciones de vías urinarias en mujeres embarazadas es del 36,7%, incidencia que se mantiene en iguales resultados en otros países de América del Sur. A nivel internacional, las recomendaciones teóricas así propuestas apuntan a fortalecer los programas de prevención y promoción de la salud de las mujeres en periodo de gestación, iniciadas por el Ministerio de Salud Pública de nuestro país para concientizar a las mujeres embarazadas a prevenir las infecciones de vías urinarias, mejorar los estilos de vida, reduciendo así la morbimortalidad materna y fetal a complicaciones relacionadas con esta patología. | es_ES |
