dc.description.abstractLa hiperplasia prostática es el tumor más común en los hombres de avanzada edad entre los 65 a 80 años de edad, es la segunda causa de resoluciones quirúrgicas y la primera en las consultas de urología. La prevalencia y el crecimiento de la hiperplasia prostática en relación con la edad, se ha analizado que existen alrededor del 8% de prostatitis patológica en la última década; además empero, en el 50% de la población masculina donde se hace prevalente en las edades entre 51 a 60 años. Se aplico un proceso de atención de enfermería en un paciente de sexo masculino de 68 años de edad con cuadro sintomatológico característico de la enfermedad por medio del examen físico como el dolor abdominal y la anuria, además por medio del modelo de Marjorie Gordon se evidencio los patrones funcionales afectados que permitieron identificar las necesidades en salud del paciente. Para la realización de los diagnósticos, resultados e intervenciones de enfermería se aplicaron las taxonomías NANDA, NOC Y NIC, los cuales permitieron mejorar los cuidados y mejorar la calidad de vida del paciente durante su instancia hospitalaria.es_ES
