This document addresses the importance of hydroponics as an alternative, feasible and durable cultivation method to address current challenges in the agricultural field at a global level. Despite initial challenges, sustainable hydroponic crops in Ecuador are necessary for the first step in the implementation of these agricultural practices that can help the country in the future. Our objective was to characterize these crops in the Ecuadorian context; to carry it out, a methodology with a qualitative approach and a descriptive scope was proposed. It was found that the intention to implement hydroponic methods in the Ecuadorian agricultural sector is not something that the government has ignored, on the contrary, it has placed emphasis on carrying out hydroponic cultivation projects NFT (Nutrient Film Technique) the most popular recirculating hydroponic system in the world for crop production. certain agricultural companies in the country, which have been welcomed by farmers for their reduced initial investment, reduction of complications (space, resources and sustainability) compared to traditional cultivation and their products are accepted in the national market. A hydroponic crop carried out in a confined and heated area is a highly repeatable system, consequently. The yields of hydroponic crops can double those of crops in the field, the action of pathogens or pests will strongly affect the yield of the crop. It has become a valuable tool for research and teaching. It was concluded that emphasizing the implementation of crops. Sustainable hydroponics has the potential to transform the Ecuadorian agricultural landscape.es_ES
