The case study focuses on the evaluation of the feasibility and need to implement a GPON (Gigabit Passive Optical Network) network in the La Industria Campus of the Urdaneta canton, province of Los Ríos, in the year 2023. The main objective is to address the telecommunications challenges faced by this rural community and analyze how the implementation of the GPON network could improve connectivity and contribute to local development. The methodology used is based on a descriptive approach, which includes interviews and surveys with residents of the La Industria Campus. The results obtained reveal that approximately 80% of the community has access to the Internet, but there is dissatisfaction due to speed problems, high costs and unreliable connectivity. One of the most notable findings is the high demand for Internet access for educational, work and entertainment purposes. More than 95% of participants require the Internet for activities such as online studies, working from home, and communicating with family and friends. Interest in the GPON network is evident, with 85% of participants expressing their desire for affordable, higher-speed Internet service through this technology. The implementation of the GPON network is presented as a solution that could address these challenges and significantly improve the quality of telecommunications in the community. Recommendations include GPON network implementation, service provider assessment, infrastructure planning, community education and awareness, ongoing monitoring and maintenance, exploration of collaboration opportunities, and periodic satisfaction assessment. of the users.es_ES
