This research aims to determine the risk factors that influence the transmission of acute respiratory diseases in older infants attending the Basic Hospital of Baba. To achieve this objective, a hypothetical-deductive, field-based, and non-experimental methodology was employed, using the analytical-synthetic method for data analysis. The results revealed that 69% of mothers of older infants did not practice on-demand breastfeeding. Furthermore, it was observed that 8% of older infants experienced 1 to 2 episodes of acute respiratory diseases, while 24% experienced 3 to 4 episodes of these diseases. Surprisingly, a high percentage, 68%, suffered from 5 or more episodes of acute respiratory diseases. The high frequency of these episodes, along with the predominance of symptoms such as cough and fever, underscores the importance of identifying and addressing specific risk factors that could contribute to the transmission of these diseases in the population of older infants. Additionally, the results also suggest that access to health insurance is not widely spread among the families of older infants, which could influence timely medical care-seeking and potentially the transmission of respiratory diseases. Consequently, this research provides a solid foundation for proposing strategies and measures aimed at addressing these risk factors, improving the prevention and management of acute respiratory diseases in older infants.es_ES
